Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom Teeth Extractions

Not all wisdom teeth might need to be extracted. However, a good number of them might pose potential issue to your dental health.  When there isn’t enough space for wisdom teeth to erupt normally in the mouth, they might need to be extracted to prevent any cavities or periodontal issues to your adjacent teeth.  Sometimes they erupt partially and might cause pericoronitis and severe pain.

What is the Extraction Process Like?

The Consultation

Before we start the wisdom teeth removal process, we’ll conduct a consultation. We’ll discuss the specifics of your procedure and answer any questions you may have.

The Extraction

The extraction procedure for 4 wisdom teeth typically takes about an hour or a little longer depending on the complexity of the procedure. You will receive local anesthesia and Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) and we will make sure you are completely numb before we touch your tooth.

The Recovery Process

It is up to you whether you would like to take time off from school or work following the procedure. Most people experience a mild discomfort/pain and swelling for a few days afterward. We will prescribe you necessary medications and painkillers to make the healing process more comfortable.
