Canadian Dental Care Plan
CDCP Dentist in Brampton
North Bramalea Dental welcomes new patients with active CDCP coverage. Our team can help explain the claims process, review a treatment estimate and submit eligible claims directly to Sun Life. Coverage, co-payments and additional charges vary by patient and service.

What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan?
The CDCP is a federal program designed to make oral health care more affordable for eligible Canadian residents. The Government of Canada determines eligibility and Sun Life administers dental benefits and claims. Applications for the 2026–2027 benefit year are open. You can apply, check your status and review current plan rules at Canada.ca/dental.
Who may qualify for CDCP coverage?
According to the Government of Canada, applicants must meet all four requirements:
- Have no access to private dental insurance or coverage, including through an employer, pension plan or family member.
- Have filed the required Canadian tax return.
- Have an adjusted family net income below $90,000.
- Be a Canadian resident for tax purposes.
Eligibility is decided by Service Canada, not by the dental office. Confirm that your coverage is active before every appointment. Review the current requirements on the official CDCP eligibility page.

Dental services that may be covered
When clinically appropriate and permitted by current plan rules, CDCP coverage may contribute to services such as:
- New-patient, routine and emergency dental exams
- Dental X-rays
- Dental cleanings, scaling and preventive care
- Fluoride treatments and sealants
- Fillings and treatment for broken or decayed teeth
- Root canal treatment, periodontal care, dentures and certain oral-surgery services, subject to plan limits
Some procedures require preauthorization, and not every requested service is covered. Frequency limits, clinical criteria and your remaining benefits can affect payment. See the Government of Canada’s current CDCP coverage information.
What to bring to your appointment
- Your CDCP member ID and coverage start date from your Government of Canada or Sun Life letter.
- Photo identification and an up-to-date list of medications.
- Details about any provincial, territorial or federal social dental benefits you receive.
- Questions about your co-payment, proposed treatment or possible additional charges.
Will I have to pay anything?
Possibly. The CDCP pays according to its own established fees and rules. Depending on adjusted family net income, a member may have a co-payment. You may also be responsible when our office fee is higher than the amount the plan reimburses or when a service is not covered. Before treatment, our team can submit an estimate when appropriate and explain the amount you may need to pay. An estimate or preauthorization is not a guarantee of final payment.

CDCP dentist FAQs
Does North Bramalea Dental accept CDCP patients?
Yes. We welcome new and existing patients with active CDCP coverage and can submit eligible claims directly to Sun Life under current program rules.
Can I book before my coverage begins?
You can contact us to discuss scheduling, but CDCP benefits apply only to eligible care received on or after the coverage start date shown in your letter.
Does CDCP mean all dental care is free?
No. Co-payments, plan fee differences, coverage limits and non-covered services may leave an amount for the patient to pay.
Can the dental office decide whether I qualify?
No. Service Canada determines eligibility. Our team can help verify active coverage and explain a treatment estimate, but we cannot approve an application or change plan rules.
